India’s oil & gas industry registered a 12.5% drop in IT hiring activity in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.08% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.86% share in June 2022, recording a decrease of 1.08% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.58% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry in June 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.96% in June 2022, registering a 34.46% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 17% share, an increase of 11.11% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 15.58%, registering a 1.85% rise from May 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.08%, down 39.02% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 29.25% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry during June 2022 over May 2022.

Shell posted 106 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a drop of 47.26% over the previous month, followed by Koch Industries with 49 jobs and a 16.67% growth. PI Industries with 40 IT jobs and Yara International with 32 jobs, recorded an 18.37% decline and a 3.03% decrease, respectively, while Baker Hughes recorded a decline of 20.59% with 27 job postings during June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.22%, down by 34.63% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 39.09% share, registered a decline of 2.82% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 3.68% share, down 63.89% over May 2022.
