India’s oil & gas industry registered a 21.5% drop in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 64.03% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 18.51% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 10.56% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry in October 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 67.31% in October 2021, registering a 7.96% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 11.97% share, an increase of 42.31% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 9.39%, registering a 45.28% decline from September 2021.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.8%, up 425% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 45.66% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over September 2021.

Royal Dutch Shell posted 142 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a rise of 115.15% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes Holdings with 48 jobs and a 14.29% growth. Yara International with 26 IT jobs and PI Industries with 24 jobs, recorded an 18.18% growth and a 35.14% decrease, respectively, while Syngenta recorded an increase of 100% with 12 job postings during October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.07%, down by 13.23% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 39.81% share, registered an increase of 4.24% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.8% share, down 25% over September 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.32%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
