
India’s oil & gas industry registered a 9.2% drop in IT hiring activity in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 7.22% in March 2022 when compared with February 2022.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 20.5% share in March 2022, recording an increase of 0.45% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in India’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.52% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry in March 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 74.48% in March 2022, registering a 10.99% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 10.98% share, a decrease of 7.5% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 5.04%, registering a 34.62% decline from February 2022.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 4.75%, down 60.98% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 18.06% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry during March 2022 over February 2022.
Shell posted 94 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a drop of 14.55% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes with 53 jobs and a 26.19% growth. Koch Industries with 48 IT jobs and Yara International with 38 jobs, recorded a 64.44% decline and a 100% growth, respectively, while Syngenta recorded an increase of 425% with 21 job postings during March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.2%, down by 11.62% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 31.75% share, registered a decline of 31.85% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.04% share, down 29.17% over February 2022.
