India’s oil & gas industry registered a 4.5% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 16.67% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 17.74% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 5.51% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in India’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.31% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry in November 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 60.9% in November 2021, registering a 7.69% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.12% share, an increase of 86.21% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Research Scientists held a share of 9.25%, registering a 121.43% rise from October 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 5.67%, down 47.22% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 7.03% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s oil & gas industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

Royal Dutch Shell posted 140 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a drop of 9.09% over the previous month, followed by PI Industries with 51 jobs and an 112.5% growth. Baker Hughes with 41 IT jobs and Yara International with 29 jobs, recorded a 14.58% decline and a 7.41% growth, respectively, while BP recorded an increase of 333.33% with 13 job postings during November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.3%, up by 18.82% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 34.03% share, registered a decline of 12.31% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.67% share, down 9.52% over October 2021.
