The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.1% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 16.9% share in February 2022, recording a decrease of 0.72% over the last three-month average share.

Top five oil & gas companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 20% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

Shell posted 6 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a drop of 40% over the previous month, followed by BASF with 5 jobs and a 54.55% drop. Evonik Industries with 4 IT jobs and BP with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Subsea 7 recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 61.29%, down by 32.14% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.81% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 12.9% share, flat growth over January 2022.
