
Malaysia’s oil & gas industry registered a 4.7% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.14% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 14.94% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.39% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Malaysia’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 69.44% in August 2022, registering a 177.78% growth over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 13.89% share, an increase of 66.67% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 11.11%, registering a flat growth from July 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 5.56%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in Malaysia’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 210% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Malaysia’s oil & gas industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
BASF posted 16 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a rise of 1500% over the previous month, followed by Shell with 8 jobs and a 60% growth. Evonik Industries with 3 IT jobs and Koch Industries with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Air Liquide recorded an increase of 100% with 2 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.33%, up by 40% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 27.78% share, registered an increase of 66.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.89% share, flat growth over July 2022.
