Middle East & Africa witnessed a 7.2% drop in IT hiring activity in the oil & gas industry in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2022 has seen an increase of 9.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.05% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 0.15% over the last three-month average share.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 46% in September 2022, a 35.29% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 22% in September 2022, marking a 38.89% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 18% in September 2022, an 18.18% drop from August 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 8% in September 2022, a 100% rise over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 90% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Saudi Arabian Oil posted 23 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 283.33% over the previous month, followed by Abu Dhabi National Oil with 5 jobs and a 66.67% growth. Baker Hughes with 4 IT jobs and Qatar Gas Transport with 4 jobs, recorded a 42.86% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Nutrien recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry

Saudi Arabia commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 52% share in September 2022, a 160% increase over August 2022. United Arab Emirates featured next with a 14% share, up 16.67% over the previous month. Qatar recorded a 12% share, a drop of 14.29% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 72%, up by 9.09% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 26% share, registered a decline of 13.33% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 2% share, down 75% over August 2022.
