IT jobs accounted for a 4.41% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in April 2022, registering an increase of 0.32% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in April 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 32.56% in April 2022, a 27.27% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 32.56% in April 2022, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 11.63% in April 2022, a 400% rise from March 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 68.75% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry during April 2022 over previous month.
Saudi Arabian Oil posted 13 IT jobs in April 2022 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Worley with 5 jobs and a 16.67% drop. TotalEnergies with 3 IT jobs and Qatar Gas Transport with 3 jobs, recorded a 200% rise and a 50% rise, respectively, while John Wood Group recorded a 57.14% decline with 3 job postings during April 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry
Saudi Arabia commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 39.53% share in April 2022, a 325% increase over March 2022. United Arab Emirates featured next with a 9.3% share, up 33.33% over the previous month. Egypt recorded a 6.98% share, a growth of 50% compared with March 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in April 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.14%, up by 66.67% from March 2022. Mid Level positions with a 34.88% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
