February 2022 has seen an increase of 6.76% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 4.53% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.71% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 43.59% in February 2022, a 21.43% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 33.33% in February 2022, marking a 225% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 17.95% in February 2022, a 50% drop from January 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 91.67% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry during February 2022 over previous month.

Worley posted 7 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 133.33% over the previous month, followed by Sasol with 5 jobs and a 150% growth. Henkel AGKGaA with 4 IT jobs and Baker Hughes with 4 jobs, recorded a 300% rise and a 20% drop, respectively, while Saudi Kayan Petrochemical recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during February 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry

South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 30.77% share in February 2022, a 100% increase over January 2022. Saudi Arabia featured next with a 23.08% share, up 28.57% over the previous month. Qatar recorded a 12.82% share, a flat growth compared with January 2022.
