March 2022 has seen an increase of 0.23% in the overall hiring activity when compared with February 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 4.72% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in March 2022, registering an increase of 0.65% over the last three-month average share.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations leads by classification in March 2022
Database and Network Administrators and Architects Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 37.84% in March 2022, a 7.69% rise over the previous month. Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers came in next, claiming a share of 29.73% in March 2022, marking a 38.89% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 24.32% in March 2022, a 28.57% rise from February 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 55.56% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry during March 2022 over previous month.
John Wood Group posted 7 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered an increase of 250% over the previous month, followed by Mesaieed Petrochemical Holding with 7 jobs and a flat growth. Worley with 6 IT jobs and Sasol with 5 jobs, recorded a 14.29% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while Baker Hughes recorded a 25% decline with 3 job postings during March 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry
Qatar commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 27.03% share in March 2022, a 100% increase over February 2022. South Africa featured next with an 18.92% share, down 41.67% over the previous month. Saudi Arabia recorded a 16.22% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 43.24%, down by 27.27% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 37.84% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 18.92% share, up 75% over February 2022.
