Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity rises 4.6% in September 2021

Middle East & Africa witnessed a 4.6% rise in IT hiring activity in the oil & gas industry in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

September 2021 has seen a decrease of 2.09% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.73% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering an increase of 0.27% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 37.84% in September 2021, a 75% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 35.14% in September 2021, marking a 62.5% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 13.51% in September 2021, a 66.67% rise from August 2021.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 10.81% in September 2021, a 42.86% decline over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in Middle East & Africa’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 300% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Baker Hughes Holdings posted 12 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 1100% over the previous month, followed by Worley with 5 jobs and a 150% growth. Koch Industries with 4 IT jobs and Henkel AGKGaA with 4 jobs, recorded a 300% rise and a 33.33% rise, respectively, while John Wood Group recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s oil & gas industry

Saudi Arabia commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 35.14% share in September 2021, a 225% increase over August 2021. Egypt featured next with a 24.32% share, up 125% over the previous month. United Arab Emirates recorded an 18.92% share, a growth of 600% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 40.54%, up by 50% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 37.84% share, registered a growth of 16.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 21.62% share, up 100% over August 2021.
