Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 50.51% in October 2021, a 3.2% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 15.42% in October 2021, marking a 6.19% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.62% in October 2021, a 6% rise from September 2021.

Top five oil & gas companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 20.22% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Exxon Mobil posted 58 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a decline of 19.44% over the previous month, followed by Air Products and Chemicals with 58 jobs and a 222.22% growth. Eastman Chemical with 36 IT jobs and Marathon Petroleum with 34 jobs, recorded a 20% rise and a 5.56% drop, respectively, while Baker Hughes Holdings recorded a 25.93% increase with 34 job postings during October 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s oil & gas industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with an 88.3% share in October 2021, a 3.65% decrease over September 2021. Canada featured next with a 7.2% share, up 24.44% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 4.5% share, a growth of 94.44% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.51%, down by 2.73% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.12% share, registered a growth of 4.98% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.37% share, up 6.12% over September 2021.
