UK-based company Shell’s IT hiring declined 17.6% in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 15.5% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

IT jobs claimed a 22.39% share in the company’s total hiring activity in February 2022, and recorded a 0.74% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Shell IT hiring in February 2022

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Shell, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 57.14% in February 2022, and a 65.41% drop over January 2022, while Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a share of 12.5% in February 2022, and registered a decline of 33.33%. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.71% in February 2022, a 76.92% drop from January 2022.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Shell

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in February 2022 with a 90.18% share, which marked a 58.94% drop over the previous month.

North America stood next with 6.25%, registering a 58.82% month-on-month decline. Europe was the third leading region with a 3.57% share and an 81.82% drop over January 2022.

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 79.46% share in February 2022, a 58.8% decline over January 2022. Malaysia featured next with a 5.36% share, down 40% over the previous month. Philippines recorded a 3.57% share, a decline of 76.47% compared with January 2022.

Junior Level jobs lead Shell IT hiring activity in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.11%, down by 65.84% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 45.54% share, a decline of 54.46% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.36% share, down 50% over January 2022.
