UK-based company Shell’s IT hiring declined 23.6% in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The company’s overall hiring activity declined by 20.13% in June 2022 when compared with May 2022.

IT jobs claimed a 21.36% share in the company’s total hiring activity in June 2022, and recorded a 1.24% decline over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers tops Shell IT hiring in June 2022

Out of the total IT job titles posted by Shell, Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers emerged as the leading occupation, recording a share of 47.1% in June 2022, and a 50.76% drop over May 2022, while Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a share of 25.36% in June 2022, and registered a decline of 30%. Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 8.7% in June 2022, a 60% drop from May 2022.

Asia-Pacific drives IT hiring at Shell

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global oil & gas IT hiring activity in June 2022 with an 82.61% share, which marked a 48.88% drop over the previous month.

Europe stood next with 16.67%, registering a 54% month-on-month decline. North America was the third leading region with a 0.72% share and a 66.67% drop over May 2022.

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 76.81% share in June 2022, a 47.26% decline over May 2022. The UK featured next with a 14.49% share, down 55.56% over the previous month. Philippines recorded a 3.62% share, a decline of 54.55% compared with May 2022.

Junior Level jobs lead Shell IT hiring activity in June 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.55%, down by 58.39% from May 2022. Mid Level positions with a 45.65% share, a decline of 35.05% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.8% share, down 57.89% over May 2022.
