IT jobs accounted for a 7.33% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2021, registering a decrease of 0.48% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 72.22% in October 2021, a 30% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 12.5% in October 2021, marking a 25% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 8.33% in October 2021, a 45.45% drop from September 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 8.62% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over previous month.
Exxon Mobil posted 46 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by World Fuel Services with 6 jobs and a flat growth. Yara International with 5 IT jobs and Chevron with 3 jobs, recorded a 400% rise and a 25% drop, respectively, while Syngenta recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during October 2021.

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 72.22% share in October 2021, a 6.12% increase over September 2021. Argentina featured next with a 12.5% share, down 10% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded an 8.33% share, a growth of 20% compared with September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 80.56%, down by 7.94% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 15.28% share, registered a growth of 22.22% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.17% share, up 50% over September 2021.
