September 2022 has seen a decrease of 6.49% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.

IT jobs accounted for an 11.36% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering a decrease of 1.84% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 31.36% in September 2022, a 4.55% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 30.45% in September 2022, marking a 37.96% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 17.27% in September 2022, a 22.45% drop from August 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 22.45% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during September 2022 over previous month.

Ecopetrol posted 173 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a decline of 27% over the previous month, followed by Equinor with 6 jobs and a 200% growth. Vibra Energia with 5 IT jobs and World Fuel Services with 3 jobs, recorded a 400% rise and a 50% rise, respectively, while Irving Oil recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during September 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with an 87.73% share in September 2022, a 22.8% decrease over August 2022. Argentina featured next with a 3.18% share, down 12.5% over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 2.73% share, a growth of 50% compared with August 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.64%, down by 27.03% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 19.09% share, registered a growth of 27.27% compared with the previous month.
