Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 33.89% in July 2022, a 23.58% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 33.47% in July 2022, marking a 20% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 15.9% in July 2022, an 11.63% drop from June 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 20.92% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during July 2022 over previous month.
Ecopetrol posted 202 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 16.18% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 12 jobs and a 65.71% drop. Chevron with 3 IT jobs and Halliburton with 3 jobs, recorded a 200% rise and a 25% drop, respectively, while Equinor recorded a 200% increase with 3 job postings during July 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 94.14% share in July 2022, an 18.18% decrease over June 2022. Argentina featured next with a 2.51% share, up 50% over the previous month. Ecuador recorded a 0.84% share, a drop of 50% compared with June 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 79.08%, down by 23.79% from June 2022. Entry Level positions with a 14.64% share, registered a decline of 7.89% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 6.28% share, down 21.05% over June 2022.
