South & Central America witnessed a 13.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the oil & gas industry in June 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
June 2022 has seen a decrease of 6.15% in the overall hiring activity when compared with May 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.14% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in June 2022, registering a decrease of 1.52% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in June 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 35.54% in June 2022, a 25.55% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 32.4% in June 2022, marking a 25.6% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 13.94% in June 2022, a 46.67% drop from May 2022.
Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 9.76% in June 2022, a 20% decline over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 22.6% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during June 2022 over previous month.
Ecopetrol posted 227 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a decline of 25.57% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 35 jobs and a 5.41% drop. Halliburton with 4 IT jobs and Irving Oil with 4 jobs, recorded a 33.33% rise and a 300% rise, respectively, while World Fuel Services recorded a 50% decline with 4 job postings during June 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 90.59% share in June 2022, a 32.29% decrease over May 2022. Colombia featured next with a 2.79% share, up 700% over the previous month. Barbados recorded a 1.39% share, a growth of 300% compared with May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in June 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 80.49%, down by 31.04% from May 2022. Entry Level positions with a 12.89% share, registered a decline of 13.95% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 6.62% share, down 24% over May 2022.
