May 2022 has seen a decrease of 0.1% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for an 11.11% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.7% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 37.41% in May 2022, a 5.45% drop over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 24.1% in May 2022, marking a 17.54% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 22.66% in May 2022, a 14.55% rise from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 2.3% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Ecopetrol posted 220 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 5.77% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 32 jobs and a 25.58% drop. Vibra Energia with 7 IT jobs and World Fuel Services with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 14.29% drop, respectively, while Koch Industries recorded a 33.33% decline with 2 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 95.68% share in May 2022, a 2.7% increase over April 2022. Costa Rica featured next with a 2.16% share, down 14.29% over the previous month. Bolivia recorded a 0.72% share, a flat growth compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 83.45%, up by 1.75% from April 2022. Entry Level positions with a 10.79% share, registered a growth of 11.11% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 5.76% share, up 23.08% over April 2022.
