South & Central America’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity drops 4.1% in November 2021

South & Central America witnessed a 4.1% drop in IT hiring activity in the oil & gas industry in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

November 2021 has seen an increase of 7.94% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.63% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2021, registering a decrease of 0.99% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 59.42% in November 2021, a 24.07% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 20.29% in November 2021, marking a 55.56% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 8.7% in November 2021, a 50% rise from October 2021.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 7.25% in November 2021, a 16.67% decline over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 11.86% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during November 2021 over previous month.

Exxon Mobil posted 37 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a decline of 22.92% over the previous month, followed by World Fuel Services with 6 jobs and a flat growth. Henkel AGKGaA with 3 IT jobs and Baker Hughes with 3 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 50% rise, respectively, while Chevron recorded a flat growth with 3 job postings during November 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 63.77% share in November 2021, an 18.52% decrease over October 2021. Argentina featured next with a 15.94% share, up 22.22% over the previous month. Costa Rica recorded a 7.25% share, a drop of 16.67% compared with October 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 81.16%, down by 6.67% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 13.04% share, registered a decline of 18.18% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.8% share, up 33.33% over October 2021.
