South & Central America witnessed an 8.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the oil & gas industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
December 2021 has seen a decrease of 5.39% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 17.03% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.81% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 38.29% in December 2021, a 14.72% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 25.9% in December 2021, marking a 9.3% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 18.46% in December 2021, a 1.47% drop from November 2021.
Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 11.29% in December 2021, a 4.65% decline over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 3.29% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during December 2021 over previous month.
Ecopetrol posted 298 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a decline of 7.17% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 39 jobs and a 5.41% growth. Henkel AGKGaA with 7 IT jobs and Baker Hughes with 5 jobs, recorded a 133.33% rise and a 66.67% rise, respectively, while BASF recorded a 300% increase with 4 job postings during December 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 93.94% share in December 2021, a 6.58% decrease over November 2021. Argentina featured next with a 4.13% share, up 36.36% over the previous month. Ecuador recorded a 0.55% share, a flat growth compared with November 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 78.24%, down by 8.97% from November 2021. Entry Level positions with a 15.98% share, registered a growth of 7.41% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 5.79% share, down 12.5% over November 2021.
