February 2022 has seen a decrease of 1.38% in the overall hiring activity when compared with January 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 17.16% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in February 2022, registering an increase of 0.38% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in February 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 40.65% in February 2022, a 2.33% rise over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 25.87% in February 2022, marking a 19.15% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 19.4% in February 2022, a 35.48% rise from January 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 17.83% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during February 2022 over previous month.
Ecopetrol posted 375 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered an increase of 16.82% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 32 jobs and a 6.67% growth. World Fuel Services with 8 IT jobs and Baker Hughes with 4 jobs, recorded a 100% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Schlumberger recorded a flat growth with 4 job postings during February 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 95.61% share in February 2022, a 17.61% increase over January 2022. Costa Rica featured next with a 1.85% share, up 100% over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 1.15% share, a growth of 66.67% compared with January 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 73.9%, up by 7.38% from January 2022. Entry Level positions with a 19.17% share, registered a growth of 48.21% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 6.93% share, up 42.86% over January 2022.
