
The UK’s oil & gas industry registered an 8.7% drop in IT hiring activity in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 5.7% in August 2022 when compared with July 2022.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8% share in August 2022, recording a decrease of 0.66% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s oil & gas industry in August 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 30.1% in August 2022, registering a 22.5% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 30.1% share, an increase of 10.71% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 18.45%, registering a 17.39% decline from July 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 14.56%, up 50% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 4.69% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s oil & gas industry during August 2022 over July 2022.
Shell posted 26 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a drop of 10.34% over the previous month, followed by LyondellBasell Industries with 13 jobs and an 8.33% growth. Anglian Water Services with 13 IT jobs and Johnson Matthey with 8 jobs, recorded an 18.18% growth and a 60% growth, respectively, while John Wood Group recorded a flat growth with 7 job postings during August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.02%, down by 2.86% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 28.16% share, registered a decline of 19.44% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 5.83% share, flat growth over July 2022.
