
The UK’s oil & gas industry registered a 22.6% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.66% in September 2021 when compared with August 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.17% share in September 2021, recording an increase of 1.34% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s oil & gas industry in September 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 54.05% in September 2021, registering a 73.91% flat growth over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 17.57% share, an increase of 44.44% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 16.22%, registering a 33.33% rise from August 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 9.46%, up 40% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 161.11% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s oil & gas industry during September 2021 over August 2021.
LyondellBasell Industries posted 14 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a rise of 250% over the previous month, followed by BP with 13 jobs and a 225% growth. Baker Hughes Holdings with 10 IT jobs and John Wood Group with 8 jobs, recorded a 100% flat growth and a 60% flat growth, respectively, while Hunting recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.46%, up by 69.23% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.03% share, registered an increase of 66.67% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.46% share, up 40% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 4.05%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
