
The UK’s oil & gas industry registered a 5.0% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.18% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.39% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.84% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the UK’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s oil & gas industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 60% in October 2021, registering a 7.14% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed an 18.46% share, a decrease of 29.41% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 9.23%, registering a 60% decline from September 2021.
4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.69%, down 37.5% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 2.22% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
LyondellBasell Industries posted 15 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 21.05% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes Holdings with 10 jobs and a 9.09% drop. BP with 9 IT jobs and Subsea 7 with 5 jobs, recorded a 30.77% decline and a 150% flat growth, respectively, while Equinor recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.77%, down by 6.12% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 24.62% share, registered a decline of 38.46% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.62% share, down 57.14% over September 2021.
