
The US’s oil & gas industry registered a 5.6% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 0.95% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.26% share in July 2022, recording a decrease of 0.24% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 96.36% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry in July 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 35.96% in July 2022, registering a 6.13% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 24.44% share, an increase of 7.77% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 18.92%, registering a 16.15% decline from June 2022.
4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 11.63%, down 30.77% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 14.33% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry during July 2022 over June 2022.
Koch Industries posted 155 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 17.11% over the previous month, followed by Sasol with 60 jobs and a 48.72% drop. Oceaneering International with 37 IT jobs and Baker Hughes with 21 jobs, recorded a 270% growth and a 75% growth, respectively, while Halliburton recorded an increase of 25% with 20 job postings during July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.75%, down by 11.53% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 21.86% share, registered an increase of 4.49% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with an 11.4% share, down 21.14% over June 2022.
