The US’s oil & gas industry registered an 8.1% rise in IT hiring activity in November 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 6.5% in November 2021 when compared with October 2021.

Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.5% share in November 2021, recording an increase of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.13% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry in November 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 50.42% in November 2021, registering a 9.35% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 14.61% share, an increase of 12.96% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 12.46%, registering a 13.04% rise from October 2021.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 11.02%, down 15.6% over the previous month.

Top five oil & gas companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in November 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 27.78% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry during November 2021 over October 2021.

Air Products and Chemicals posted 60 IT jobs in November 2021 and registered a rise of 1.69% over the previous month, followed by Exxon Mobil with 57 jobs and a 10.94% drop. Sasol with 52 IT jobs and TotalEnergies with 42 jobs, recorded a 766.67% growth and a 27.27% growth, respectively, while Marathon Petroleum recorded an increase of 16.67% with 42 job postings during November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.8%, up by 10.09% from October 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.43% share, registered an increase of 11.17% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.53% share, up 5.61% over October 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.24%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
