
The US’s oil & gas industry registered a 9.1% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.94% in October 2021 when compared with September 2021.
Out of the oil & gas industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 4.37% share in October 2021, recording an increase of 0.43% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in the US’s oil & gas industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry in October 2021.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 51.67% in October 2021, registering a 5.59% decline over the previous month.
2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 14.99% share, a decrease of 0.96% over the previous month.
3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 13.25%, registering a 6.19% decline from September 2021.
4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 11.64%, down 8.05% over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in October 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 12.89% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s oil & gas industry during October 2021 over September 2021.
Exxon Mobil posted 58 IT jobs in October 2021 and registered a drop of 19.44% over the previous month, followed by Air Products and Chemicals with 58 jobs and a 222.22% growth. Eastman Chemical with 36 IT jobs and Marathon Petroleum with 34 jobs, recorded a 20% flat growth and a 5.56% decrease, respectively, while TotalEnergies recorded a decline of 13.16% with 33 job postings during October 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.39%, down by 6.42% from September 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.07% share, registered an increase of 1.64% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 13.54% share, flat growth over September 2021.
