Barnett Shale witnessed an increase of 1.93% in total oil and gas production to 577,774.76 boe/d in October 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production in Barnett grew 0.52% in October 2021 from 574,766.45 boe/d in October 2020. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in the play decreased by 7.91% from the same period in 2020.

In Barnett, oil production declined 2.14% in October 2021 as compared with the previous month, while gas production increased by 2.27% to 3,047.18 mmcf/d.

On a YTD basis, oil production in the play increased by 7.89% in 2021 when compared with the same period in 2020, while gas production declined by 9.02%. Out of the total oil and gas production in October 2021, oil held an 8.46% share, while gas had a 90.93% share.


In Barnett, Devon Energy emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 110,557.53 boe/d in October 2021, an increase of 0.22% from the previous month. The company held a 0.08% share in oil production and 20.95% share in gas production in October 2021.

On a YTD basis, the company registered a 9.75% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2020.



Compared with other counties within Barnett Shale, Tarrant county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 28% share in October 2021. The county witnessed a 6.5% increase in production to 161,769.36 boe/d in October 2021 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, it registered a decline of 10.23% in total production from the same period in 2020.
