Block A-18 is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Malaysia – Thailand Joint Development Area and is operated by Carigali Hess Operating Company Sdn. The field is located in block Block A-18, with water depth of 188 feet.
An expansion project is associated with the Block A-18, namely Block A-18 Development. This project is currently in the feasibility stage, expected to start in 2029.
Field participation details
The field is owned by Petroliam Nasional and Hess.
Production from Block A-18
The Block A-18 conventional gas field recovered 87.00% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2012. The peak production was approximately 7.44 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 889 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2030. The field currently accounts for approximately 65% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 112.74 Mmboe, comprised of 9.16 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 621.52 bcf of natural gas reserves. Block A-18 conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.04% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
