The downstream segment contracts in North America registered an increase of 450% with 11 contracts in August 2021, when compared with the previous month’s total of two contracts, according to GlobalData’s oil and gas contracts database.
A total of 11 contracts were registered in the downstream segment of North America during the month, when compared with the last 12-month moving average of five contracts.
In terms of the number of contracts in North America, the upstream segment contributed the most with 78 contracts in August 2021, followed by downstream and midstream segments with 11 and seven contracts, respectively.
Contract award activity in North America’s downstream segment during August 2021
In August 2021, the US led the activity with nine contracts and an 82% share of the downstream oil and gas contracts in North America. It saw an increase of 800% over the previous month’s total of one contract and an increase of 200% when compared with the last 12 month-average of three contracts in the US.
In second place was Canada with two contracts and an 18% share.
Based on 12-month moving average of the contracts in the downstream segment of North America, the US took the top spot with four contracts.

During the month, the majority of downstream segment contracts awarded in the North America were in the design & engineering with eight contracts, followed by procurement with three contracts.
