Two expansion projects are associated with the Geographe Thylacine conventional gas field, namely Thylacine Development and Geographe Development. The expansion projects are currently in the feasibility stage, targeting start-up during 2022 – 2023.

Field participation details

The field is owned by Beach Energy and O.G. Energy Holdings.

Production from Geographe Thylacine

The Geographe Thylacine conventional gas field recovered 57.71% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2013. The peak production was approximately 1.71 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate, 142 Mmcfd of natural gas and 2.55 thousand bpd of natural gas liquids. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2039. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 69.03 Mmboe, comprised of 4.85 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate, 374.65 bcf of natural gas reserves and 1.74 Mmbbl of natural gas liquid reserves. Geographe Thylacine conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.02% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
