Hassi Messaoud is a producing conventional oil field located onshore Algeria and is operated by Sonatrach. The field is located in block Hassi Messaoud.
Two expansion projects are associated with the Hassi Messaoud conventional oil field, namely Hassi Messaoud North Fields Development and Hassi Messaoud South Fields Development. The expansion projects are currently in the commissioning stage.

Production from Hassi Messaoud
The Hassi Messaoud conventional oil field recovered 78.98% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 1977. The peak production was approximately 719.52 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2053. The field currently accounts for approximately 19% of the country’s daily output.
Remaining recoverable reserves
The field is expected to recover 2,427.29 Mmboe, comprised of 2,167.39 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 1,559.39 bcf of natural gas reserves. Hassi Messaoud conventional oil field reserves accounts 0.53% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional oil fields globally.
