Marathon Oil recorded an increase of 5.16% in total oil and gas production to 422,675.12 boe/d in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production of Marathon Oil grew 28.81% in September 2021 from 328,130.94 boe/d in September 2020.

On a YTD basis, the company’s total oil and gas production decreased by 0.63% from the same period in 2020.

The company’s oil production grew 7.05% to 275,129.53 bd in September 2021 from the previous month, while gas production up by 3.04% to 773.46 mmcf/d. On a YTD basis, oil production decreased by 4.17% in 2021 when compared with the same period in 2020, while gas production rose by 9.73%. Out of the total oil and gas production in September 2021, oil production held a 65.09% share, while gas production held a 31.55% share.


Looking at the states where Marathon Oil recorded the highest oil and gas production in September 2021, Texas figured at the top. The company produced 223,896.38 boe/d in the state in September 2021, a decrease of 0.52% from the previous month.

On a YTD basis, the company produced 1,660,538.26 boe/d in Texas in 2021, recording a decrease of 50% from the same period in 2020.



Marathon Oil witnessed the highest oil and gas production in Karnes county in September 2021. Out of all the counties, Karnes county held a share of 31.13% for the firm. The company produced 131,594.49 boe/d in Karnes county in September 2021, a decrease of 1.19% in production when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, the county produced 1,063,721.83 boe/d for the company in 2021, a 6.9% decrease from the same period in 2020.
