Matapal is a producing conventional gas field located in shallow water in Trinidad and Tobago and is operated by BP Trinidad and Tobago. The field is located in block East Mayaro, with water depth of 633 feet.

Production from Matapal

The Matapal conventional gas field recovered 4.15% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2024. The peak production will approximately 234 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2055. The field currently accounts for approximately 3% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 156.21 Mmboe, comprised of 937.27 bcf of natural gas reserves. Matapal conventional gas field reserves accounts 0.05% of total remaining reserves of producing conventional gas fields globally.
