Montana witnessed an increase of 3.06% in total oil and gas production to 206,437.49 boe/d in September 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production grew 103.47% in September 2021 from 101,457.48 boe/d in September 2020. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in 2021 increased by 98.61% from the same period in 2020.

In September 2021, oil production grew 4.24% to 105,769.4 bd as against the previous month, while gas production up by 1.85% to 583.87 mmcf/d.

On a YTD basis, oil production increased by 93.33% in 2021 when compared with the same period in 2020, while gas production rose by 104.3%. Out of the total oil and gas production in September 2021, oil held a 51.24% share, while gas had a 48.76% share.

In Montana, Denbury Resources emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 90,110.57 boe/d in September 2021, an increase of 4.43% from the previous month. The company held a 26.57% share in oil production and 61.6% share in gas production in September 2021.

On a YTD basis, the company registered a 95.28% increase in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2020.



Compared with other counties in Montana, Powder River county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 34.69% share in September 2021. The county witnessed a 3.16% increase in production to 71,622.39 boe/d in September 2021 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, Powder River registered an increase of 97.98% in total production from the same period in 2020.
