North Dakota witnessed an increase of 3.01% in total oil and gas production to 15,75,373 boe/d in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.

The oil and gas production declined by 2.14% in August 2021 from 16,09,784.91 boe/d in August 2020. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in 2021 decreased by 2.23% from the same period in 2020.

In August 2021, oil production grew by 3.05% to 10,68,973.11 bd as against the previous month, while gas production up by 2.92% to 2,937.12 mmcf/d.

On a YTD basis, oil production decreased by 7.22% in 2021 when compared with the same period in 2020, while gas production rose by 10.81%. Out of the total oil and gas production in August 2021, oil held a 67.86% share, while gas had a 32.14% share.

In North Dakota, Continental Resources emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 2,49,284 boe/d in August 2021, an increase of 5.27% from the previous month. The company held a 15.41% share in oil production and 16.69% share in gas production in August 2021.

On a YTD basis, the company registered a 16.51% increase in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2020.



Compared with other counties in North Dakota, Mckenzie county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 43.9% share in August 2021. The county witnessed a 0.05% decrease in production to 6,91,552.51 boe/d in August 2021 when compared with the previous month.

On a YTD basis, Mckenzie registered an increase of 3.07% in total production from the same period in 2020.
