The Abu Butabul unconventional gas field recovered 15.01% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2024. The peak production will approximately 65.41 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 21.00 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2089. The field currently accounts for approximately 3% of the country’s daily output.

The field is expected to recover 378.57 Mmboe, comprised of 366.73 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 71.01 bcf of natural gas reserves. Abu Butabul unconventional gas field reserves accounts 0.33% of total remaining reserves of producing unconventional gas fields globally.
