The petrochemicals segment contracts in Africa registered a decrease of 63% with three contracts in Q4 2021, when compared with the previous quarter’s total of eight contracts, according to GlobalData’s oil and gas contracts database.

A total of three contracts were registered in the petrochemicals segment of Africa during the quarter, when compared with the last four-quarter moving average of six contracts.


In terms of the number of contracts in Africa, the upstream segment contributed the most with 51 contracts in Q4 2021, followed by midstream and petrochemicals segments with five and three contracts, respectively.

Looking at the total oil and gas contracts by country in the petrochemicals segment of Africa, Egypt led the activity in Q4 2021 with two contracts and a 67% share. It saw a decrease of 67% over the previous quarter’s total of six contracts and a decrease of 33% when compared with the last four-quarter-average of three contracts in Egypt.

In second place was South Africa with one contract and a 33% share.
