Rio Neuquen Unconventional Gas Field, Argentina

Rio Neuquen is a producing unconventional gas field located onshore Argentina and is operated by YPF. The field is located in block Rio Neuquen.

Production from Rio Neuquen

The Rio Neuquen unconventional gas field recovered 45.29% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production expected in 2022. The peak production was approximately 0.78 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate, 158 Mmcfd of natural gas and 0.52 thousand bpd of natural gas liquids. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2061. The field currently accounts for approximately 2% of the country’s daily output.


Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 114.29 Mmboe, comprised of 3.57 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate, 649.13 bcf of natural gas reserves and 2.53 Mmbbl of natural gas liquid reserves. Rio Neuquen unconventional gas field reserves accounts 0.10% of total remaining reserves of producing unconventional gas fields globally.
