South Dakota witnessed an increase of 14.1% in total oil and gas production to 5,640.07 boe/d in July 2020 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s USL48 database.
The oil and gas production grew 11.71% in July 2020 from 5,048.91 boe/d in July 2019. On a YTD basis, the total oil and gas production in 2020 decreased by 8.83% from the same period in 2019.
In July 2020, oil production grew 26.97% to 3,445.08 bd as against the previous month, while gas production declined by 1.55% to 12.73 mmcf/d.
On a YTD basis, oil production decreased by 9.77% in 2020 when compared with the same period in 2019, while gas production declined by 7.69%. Out of the total oil and gas production in July 2020, oil held a 61.08% share, while gas had a 38.91% share.
In South Dakota, Continental Resources emerged as the largest oil and gas producer, recording a total oil and gas production at 3,292.65 boe/d in July 2020, a decrease of 2.42% from the previous month. The company held a 37.64% share in oil production and 90.97% share in gas production in July 2020.
On a YTD basis, the company registered an 11.92% decrease in total oil and gas production from the same period in 2019.
Compared with other counties in South Dakota, Harding county recorded the highest oil and gas production, holding a 99.01% share in July 2020. The county witnessed a 13.79% increase in production to 5,584.26 boe/d in July 2020 when compared with the previous month.
On a YTD basis, Harding registered a decline of 9.24% in total production from the same period in 2019.
