Timimoun Unconventional Gas Field, Algeria

Timimoun is a producing unconventional gas field located onshore Algeria and is operated by Total-Cepsa.-Sonatrach. The field is located in block Timimoun (Block 325a, 329).

The field is owned by Sonatrach, TotalEnergies and Compania Espanola de Petroleos SAU.

Production from Timimoun

The Timimoun unconventional gas field recovered 15.79% of its total recoverable reserves, with peak production in 2019. The peak production was approximately 0.47 thousand bpd of crude oil and condensate and 177 Mmcfd of natural gas. Based on economic assumptions, production will continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2070. The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of the country’s daily output.

Remaining recoverable reserves

The field is expected to recover 196.39 Mmboe, comprised of 3.06 Mmbbl of crude oil & condensate and 1,160 bcf of natural gas reserves. Timimoun unconventional gas field reserves accounts 0.17% of total remaining reserves of producing unconventional gas fields globally.
