West–East I is a 4,380km-long onshore pipeline project operated by China Oil & Gas Piping Network. This gas pipeline, with a maximum diameter of 40 inches, starts at Xinjiang (China) and ends in Shanghai (China).

The West–East I project started operations in 2004 and is owned by China National Petroleum, China Petrochemical, China National Offshore Oil, and others.

The West–East I project is associated with the 6840km West–East III, 4845km West–East II (Eastern Section) and 2325km West–East II (Western Section).
