Geoscience company CGG has closed the acquisition of its Yukon 3D multi-client survey in Canadian County, extending its coverage in Oklahoma, US.

The 219m² full-azimuth data set is expected to enable the company to image the Stack play of the Anadarko Basin, west of Oklahoma City.

As part of the imaging efforts, the company intends to focus on gaining an improved understanding of the facies distribution of the Meramec, Osage and Woodford play intervals.

The company is set to complete a preliminary prestack time-migrated (PSTM) product next month.

CGG multi-client and new ventures executive vice-president Luc Schlumberger said: “Our Yukon survey marks another stage in our regional expansion in the Anadarko Basin.

“Our Yukon survey marks another stage in our regional expansion in the Anadarko Basin.”

“This is an area where we are seeing strong industry support for improved imaging and we believe our state-of-the-art processing and full Reservoir Optimisation Package will give greater insight into the numerous targets of the Devonian to Pennsylvanian age.”

A final PSTM comprising orthorhombic anisotropy with 5D regularisation and interpolation of azimuths and offsets is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year.

The processing workflow is anticipated to lead to a full reservoir optimisation package (ROP), which will help enhance reservoir characterisation and improve understanding.

ROPs will use CGG’s RoqScan rock physics workflows to deliver reservoir-oriented subsurface imaging and enhanced reservoir description.

Thereafter, predictive model generation of significant properties that control production, including spatial reservoir quality, permeability, porosity and reservoir thickness will take place.

CGG will then use the properties to create calibrated geomechanical models, including geostatistical inversion for completion optimisation.

The company offers geological, geophysical and reservoir capabilities to companies in the global oil and gas industry.
