Vryhof Anchors’ business unit Deep Sea Mooring (DSM) has started services from its equipment, design, and marine supervisory contract with Maersk Drilling in Trinidad.

The move comes after Maersk Drilling secured a contract from Shell for the deepwater semi-submersible rig Maersk Developer.

The contract awarded by Shell covers drilling activities in block E of the East Coast Marine Area (ECMA), off the coast of Trinidad.

Vryhof Anchors CEO Wolfgang Wandl said: “Today’s announcement is a tremendous achievement for Deep Sea Mooring and Vryhof Anchors, demonstrating our commitment to the Caribbean and South America on the back of the recent successful work we carried out with Maersk Drilling in Colombia.”

Under the contract, Vryhof will also deliver its drag embedment anchor, the STEVSHARK REX, to the project.

According to the company, the anchor offers improved services when compared with older models in terms of holding power and can be used in all hard soil conditions.

Under the contract, DSM is required to provide mooring equipment, including chain, fibre ropes, anchors, connectors, buoyancy, and handling units.

Operators will have access to the service history of every component offered by the company.

Other services to be offered under the contract include mobilisation and demobilisation.

As part of mooring design services, DSM will offer analyses and a geotechnical assessment.

Additionally, the company will deploy marine supervisors offshore Trinidad to assist Maersk Drilling and Shell in the drilling campaign.

It is expected that the campaign may last for up to three years.

DSM will also offer services to the project from its Norwegian locations.
