US-based technology and engineering company Emerson has launched the latest version of its reservoir management software, Roxar Tempest 8.2.

This latest release brings advanced uncertainty analysis tools and increased support to the Roxar Big Loop workflow and strengthens Emerson’s end-to-end exploration and production (E&P) software portfolio.

With the new system, it is claimed that operators will be able to achieve increased performance and project certainty on investment and operational goals.

Emerson Automation Solutions’ Roxar software product development vice-president Kjetil Fagervik said: “What sets Roxar Tempest apart is our commitment to go beyond traditional flow simulation and generate an automated workflow that expands upstream into geological modelling and downstream into production management and economics for a more consistent reservoir understanding and greater project certainty.

“What sets Roxar Tempest apart is our commitment to go beyond traditional flow simulation and generate an automated workflow.”

“With Tempest 8.2, we are one step closer to achieving this, embedding our Big Loop workflow further into our reservoir management suite, expanding MORE’s capabilities, and providing the very best in risk mitigation, decision support, workflow integration and reserves estimations from geosciences right through to production.”

Tempest MORE 8.2 is capable of handling gas liquid recovery plants and helps calculate production of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas liquids (NGL).

In addition, the modelling of the physical processes for near wellbore flow and for multiple simultaneous fluid types is improved.

It is claimed that all results can be visualised in the Tempest VIEW module and users will be able to use additional post-processing capabilities.

The software runs on Windows and Linux and operates alongside the company’s reservoir characterisation and modelling solution Roxar RMS.
