Halliburton has upgraded the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate’s (NPD) national data repository (NDR) with the launch of Diskos 2.0 NDR.

Claimed to be the oil and gas industry’s first fully cloud-native NDR implementation, the Diskos 2.0 NDR is designed to store critical exploration and production data.

The upgraded system, which is vital to drive investments in the Norwegian oil and gas industry, features advanced automation and artificial intelligence capabilities to derive better insights from the data to reduce cost per byte.

It has the capacity of improving scalability to handle over 28 petabytes of data in a multi-cloud environment.

Hosted on Halliburton’s iEnergy cloud environment, the advanced system allows connection to third-party services to add new functionalities.

NPD finance and shared services assistant director Louis Vos said: “Diskos 2.0 provides operators and key oil and gas stakeholders with a clean, transparent information and data management environment.

The Diskos 2.0 can also allow members to instantly access the full range of seismic, well, and production data in a fully functional petrotechnical software environment while eliminating the need for moving data from the NDR to a local network.

The upgraded system will be available to 79 Diskos members, including service companies, oil and gas companies, and academia.

Landmark, Halliburton Digital Solutions, and Consulting senior vice-president Nagaraj Srinivasan said: “Halliburton’s digital ecosystem and innovative digital approach to Diskos shortens the path from data to insights for members.

“It provides a boost for exploration and investments in the Norwegian shelf and plays a vital role to fortify Norway’s position as a predictable, long-term global supplier of energy.”
