Honeywell’s UOP Russell business has received a contract from Cogent Midstream to supply a 200 million-cubic-foot per-day modular gas processing plant.
Supported by EnCap Flatrock Midstream, Cogent will use the plant to extract natural gas liquids (NGLs) from natural gas produced in the Wolfcamp Formation of the Permian Basin in Texas, US.
Honeywell expects to complete the plant late next year and noted that the design will be customised for the NGL-rich gas in the Wolfcamp Formation.
Under the terms of the contract, the company will design and supply a UOP Russell modular cryogenic plant with refrigeration and dehydration units.
Honeywell UOP Russell general manager Neil Eckersley said: “Cogent Midstream selected the UOP Russell plant because it is a proven and reliable technology, and because the modular design vastly reduces the time before the plant can go into production.
“With the addition of this new plant, Cogent’s processing capacity at its Big Lake Plant will increase to 400 million cubic feet per day.”

By GlobalDataCryogenic gas processing plants cool natural gas to sub-zero temperatures to condense NGLs. The processing will result in the conversion of heavier NGLS into valuable liquids such as propane, ethane and butanes.
Honeywell builds the plants in modules in factory conditions and ships by truck to remote locations for assembling, thereby reducing construction time and cost while enabling customers to begin processing gas more quickly than with field-constructed plants.
Cogent operates a greenfield gathering and processing system in the Southern Midland Basin with 650 miles of pipeline and three processing plants.
