
Inpex has announced it is set to start production at the Ichthys liquefied natural gas (LNG) project.
The project is designed to process gas and condensate from the offshore Ichthys field, which is located off the coast of Australia.
Inpex has completed commissioning work at the onshore gas liquefaction plant, the floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility and subsea production systems.
The drilling the production wells required for startup have also been completed.
In addition, the construction of a 890km gas pipeline exporting gas and condensate from the Ichthys field to onshore facilities is complete.
The project is expected to commence the commissioning required for production startup at the Central Processing Facility next month and start producing gas.

By GlobalDataFollowing this, production and shipment of condensate, liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will also begin.
Inpex noted that activity schedules are subject to weather conditions at the work sites, preparation activities and other factors.
The company operates the project with a majority participating interest of 62.245%. Other stakeholders in the project include Total and the Australian subsidiaries of CPC Corporation Taiwan, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, JERA and Toho Gas.
The processing will take place at an onshore gas liquefaction plant constructed in Darwin, Northern Territory. It is anticipated that the project will produce 8.9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per year.
In addition, the project is expected to produce 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
