Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) wholly owned subsidiary L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) has secured a contract worth $177m for the Daman Development Project in offshore Mumbai, India.
The contract was awarded by state-owned company Oil & Natural Gas (ONGC) through an international competitive bidding process. Works cover engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) services for the project.
The Daman Development Project forms a part of ONGC’s strategy to extract gas from Daman Field in the south-west part of Tapti-Daman block in offshore Mumbai, 160km-200km from the city and 160km west of Daman.
Approved in August 2014, the project started operating after its first well C24-P4#3 commenced production from August last year.
L&T has been operating in the upstream oil and gas sector since the early 1990s and has completed multiple offshore projects for its domestic and international customers.
The new contract is expected to strengthen business ties between the company and ONGC.
